Part 3 What does the word “apologetics” mean? The word “apologetics” is derived from the ancient Greek word apologia, which means, an apology. Not an apology in the modern sense of the word – which is to say you’re sorry for something. But rather, an apology in the ancient sense of the word – which is to make a reasoned defense of something or someone. In ancient times, the word apology referred to the case a lawyer would make on behalf of his client. Apologetics is about building the case for our Faith

Posted on July 9, By Scott Youngren Despite the scientific and philosophical arguments for the existence of God presented on this website and elsewhere, some readers may still be haunted by a persistent question: If he is more than just an imaginary big-daddy-in-the-sky, why does it seem that God is hiding from us? It stands to reason that the inability of anyone to produce a unicorn is a pretty good reason not to believe in unicorns.
1 John ;16 says “God is Love.” D. A. Carson speaks of the “difficult doctrine of the love of God,” since “when informed Christians talk about the love of God they mean something very different from what is meant in the surrounding culture.” Carson distinguishes between the love the Father has for the Son, God’s general love for his creation, God’s “salvific stance towards his fallen world.
Introduction Miscegenation, more commonly called interracial marriage, is one of the touchiest subjects about which one can speak today. There is widespread pressure, coming from both Christians and non-Christians alike, urging people towards the claimed goodness of racial diversity within marriage. Opposition to interracial marriage, especially if coming from a white person, is usually interpreted to entail hatred of other races.
Allegedly, the only reason people would be opposed to marrying those of other races is because they have hatred or animosity for other races. It is because of this allegation that any opposition to miscegenation has been thoroughly and censoriously silenced. Despite such censoring — or perhaps, because of it — it is vital that we thoroughly understand the topic, rather than passively accepting anything with which our unbelieving culture and media might try to inculcate us.
The Historic American Opinion on Interracial Marriage Before venturing into the subject itself, it would be profitable to understand what others, especially Christians, have thought of miscegenation. The subject is presented today as if it were quite obvious that interracial marriage is both permissible and positively good. But, shockingly enough, it is only a fairly recent view that interracial marriage should be encouraged. While the general rarity of biracial individuals today should immediately inform us that interracial marriages are relatively new in history, it is still helpful to look into the stated opinions of men of the past.
However, since little ink was spilled on the topic of interracial marriage before separate races even lived amongst each other, I will not be going back terribly far in history, just to the seventeenth century and onward. The first set of facts which are remarkably significant is the legislation of earlier times. Legislation and criminalization are not things which just appear among a people; they require a substantive consent of the populace or apathy.
Without popular consent, laws will inevitably change.

We are saved by grace and not by our own merit or works Ephesians 2: Therefore Christ increases in our lives whilst we decrease John 3: We are not saved by keeping the law or by our own works. We are saved because of the work of Jesus Christ on the cross who paid for all our sins. When a person believes that they can be saved because of their personal merit without Christ or by keeping the law, they are in error.
Salvation is a free gift for the Christian and through Christ alone.

Brad Pitt, Gerard Butler. Were the directors right, from an historical point of view? Were the ancient Greeks and Romans of North European stock? Most classical historians today are silent on the subject. For example, Paul Cartledge, a professor of Greek culture at Cambridge, writes about his specialty, Sparta, for educated but non-academic readers, yet nowhere that I can find does he discuss the racial origins of the Spartans.
Some years ago I asked several classics professors about the race of the ancient Greeks only to be met with shrugs that suggested that no one knew, and that it was not something worth looking into. Today, an interest in the race of the ancients seems to be taken as an unhealthy sign, and any evidence of their Nordic origins discounted for fear it might give rise to dangerous sentiments. A hundred years ago, however, Europeans took it for granted that many Greeks and Romans were the same race as themselves.

Does the Bible Say Anything About Mixing of the Races? When God called Israel out of Egypt, He warned them about having anything to do with the other nations. For example, if the nations began marrying people of other nations, they would begin to follow their practices. Their hearts would go after.

Classification[ edit ] Many Reformed theologians distinguish between the communicable attributes those that human beings can also have and the incommunicable attributes those that belong to God alone. The attributes of God may be classified under two main categories: His personality attributes, like holiness and love. Millard Erickson calls these categories God’s greatness and goodness respectively.
This is often related to God’s self-existence and his self-sufficiency.

You can just erase evolution off the whiteboard because of soft tissue in dinosaur bones.
He had published some 30 articles in scientific journals about his specialty. In May , Armitage went on a dinosaur dig at the famous fossil site of Hell Creek in Montana, where he unearthed the largest triceratops horn ever found there. Back at CSUN, he put the fossil under his microscope and made the startling discovery: If the dinosaur were 65 million years old, the soft tissue could not have possibly remained, he says.
